I have a 1983 200e and I'm wondering what the splined shaft that pokes out the bottom of the pull start case is? It's like a shifter shaft but smaller diameter.
I have the 200, chain drive, hi/lo, electric start. So it can't be reverse, everything I've seen and read says this model simply doesn't have reverse. So what is the splined shaft for? It comes out through the bottom right corner of the pull start/flywheel cover.

It is for a neutral indicator. There's a little plastic piece that goes on the splined shaft and a "N" sticker was placed on the case
