Hi folks, just got an 87 br 250es previous owner has done a little low budget mod or bodge would describe it better... not sure why.... engine is quite noisy , is it best to replace with an original auto tensioner (are these reliable ) ? or go after market manual type ?

I haven't had any issues with the OEM auto tensioning type. Don't see a problem with using the manual type you just have to remember to check it periodically.

I was on partzilla and they do individual parts for these so think im gonna take it off and if it works ok think ill just put the original bolt and seal back on and see how it goes, pissing oil out at the moment,
Im wandering if they just lost the original bolt from the end...
