On my 1984 200ES, there is a hose coming from the carb just above the choke ….   where should the other end attach?  Looks like it was attached somewhere, but I can't see where! It loks like a vacuum hose. The service manual does not show this hose!

The other end is open - it doesn't attach to anything on the end. It should be held to the frame with a clamp (metal tie) and run down along the frame.

Thank you!  She suddenly quit the other day and won't start - I saw this hose that feels like it was attached to something at the non-carb end - feels much softer the last 1/2 inch. I guess I will move on to other areas - spark and fuel.  Thank you!
