Currently working on getting a 1984 200ES BIG RED in mechanical working order.

Hit the start button - nothing 

Jumped across the solenoid - starter turns

Disconnected the two wires going to the start button, used the multi-meter to check continuity, hit the button - no continuity

Removed the starter button from the bottom of the kill/light switch

Here is what I found. One wire is completely disconnected and the switch contact is not sitting in the housing correctly.

Removed and cleaned components

Re-soldered wires to switch

Reassembled switch checked continuity and good to go. Now just shrink tube the wiring and reinstall. It helps to compress the spring using a small screwdriver and slide the switch assembly into the housing
