Well, I tested the compression on my 84 and its 100 ps.
Was thinking of rebuilding it with a 10.25.1 piston, XR 200 cam,and 200x carb. I know she wont make the power that my 350x does, but i would think it would wake the motor up a bit.
Anyone did a similar setup like this? or have any recommendations?

Thanks Big Red 11x8.5.jpg

Nice looking BIG RED there. Sorry I have not tried any motor mods that you mentioned on the 200CC motor. I've just done stock rebuilds. If you try the mods out let us know the results.

It's probably a good idea to consider the recoil start on the 200ES is not as robust as the recoil only start ATCs. With the electric start as the primary mechanism, the recoil is intended for backup only.

It only has one dog, while all the recoil start only ATCs have three.

Maybe won't work well for extended periods with higher compression or may be just fine, especially used with the decompression mechanism. I can't say for certain, just something I'd keep in mind if it were mine and to keep the electric start working as it should. The E start is very reliable, so that shouldn't be much of a concern.

Edit: Good job on the forks!

Well, I got the motor back together. New Wiseco 10.25 piston, 185L cam, Ported the intake and exhausted port. Polished the exhaust port. Ported the ruff weld on the exhaust headpipe where it meets the head. New clutch with heavy duty springs. (See the comparison image). And of course the 200m front end. I will try to get a video of it running on here soon, just need to figure out how to host it on here 😉
World of difference!

Looks great! I can't wait to hear a ride report.

Looks like that Mexican brake cleaner works pretty good, do they still have the good stuff in it? As of January this year we can't buy good brake cleaner anymore in CT. Might as well just spray it with a garden hose.

Hi, I rebuilt my big red with the same set up (wiseco H-C 1:10.25, xl185 cam). what is your jetting? The stock jetting is very lean. I replace the main jet with a 102. The 102 main jet is the xl185 main jet.  The spark plug color is not optimal (brown coffee). The sparkplug is white on the tip and black near the thread. I drop the the needle on the first groove. The pilot is turn 1-1/2.

Hello, I no longer have my atc 200. I have a 86 250es now. As far as jetting, I never changed it from the factory setting since I didn't change the exhaust, nor mess with a different air filter. If your tip is white I would say your lean. You will probably have to do a plug chop. I would go up in the main one or two sizes first. The go from there
